The Benefits Of LCSW Ceus To Licensed Clinical Social Workers

In the modern world, it is a requirement that licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) engages in continuing education units (CEUs) that keep them abreast with the current issues facing the society. For this reason, state governments set up state boards that deal with the licensing of social workers. Such boards design specific courses that must be completed to qualify for renewal of the practicing licenses. With many LCSW CEUs certificates currently available, the social worker must balance the state board requirements and the work environment requirements before settling on particular CEUs to take.

Licensed Clinical Social Workers are mental health professionals and are required to have Masters Degree in the related social work as the minimum qualification. Such qualification are to be backed with thousands of training hours and passing of several examinations which results t a highly qualified social officer who can work in any given environment. Their main role in the society is to help people in all manner of social settings from individual level to families, couples, communities and organization attain better living standards.

The environment in which these social workers are working determines to a great extent the continuing course in which they should enroll.

In addition to the work center of an LCSW, the requirements of the specific state board of social workers must also be put in place. Every other state has a board in place that deals with licensing of clinical social workers. These boards set specific compulsory ceus that must be completed in order for the certificate renewal to be successful. Some of the most common units in various states include those in area of HIV/AIDS, aging, long term care, partner abuse among others.

The LCSW ceus in hospitals and other psychiatric centers include health resource, aging, long term care, mental health, bereavement and all other related courses. This is a little bit different in correctional facilities where the courses include substance abuse, per-integration into society, sexual and other offenses, rehabilitation, personal disorder and other related courses.

In the schools, the licensed clinical social workers have to help students in areas such as truancy, social adjustment, attention deficit and neglect, child abuse, withdrawal and many other areas like teen pregnancy, sexual issues, eating disorder and self-harming. The continuing educational courses taken reflect these areas. The same goes for all other LCSW as every other category or social aspect needs specific skills.
