The Depths Of Your Heart

By Evan Sanders

The midst of your heart can turn out to be a pretty pure place to go. I used to believe it had been a place of intense confusion and where the past lived, but I've come to find that it's really a place of honest purity.

These feelings that I feel within have been unfortunately claimed by others to be intense and for some reason I have experienced some sort of negativism with this word. Perhaps it's the way in which I am taking it? Possibly... it's the way in which I create meaning with that word? However, I am absolutely starting to find that this certain emotional intensity about life is actually simpleness manifesting itself.

I am for once hooking up and linking into the pureness of a number of these thoughts and emotions that I have not fully experienced before. Maybe that's the idea right there - fully experiencing emotions.

When we shut ourselves off from experiencing bad feelings we also shut ourselves off from experiencing the wide range of positive ones as well. The midst of your heart could be a place where you can go to comprehend the truths about yourself instead of a place that you have to be frightened of. In this place, there exist lessons of love and enthusiasm. Why would you want to go there?

I suspect we are terrified of this place because we have experienced how wild and intense a few of these feelings we are going through are and that really scares the hell out of us. For whatever reason, we are taught to keep a lid on ourselves and not stray too far outside the middle because that's the proper place to play. No, I'd rather climb giant trees and travel into unknown lands than play it safe.

That game isn't for me...the playing it safe game in life.

The deepest part of your heart can become a place where you go to understand the subtleties and conundrums of this life. There are so many things that we don't understand about what is happening in this world because we can't see them. Often, you've got to run on deep faith. You've got to be willing to put your feet forward, one after the next straight into the dense thick fog and function on that faith. Will it be scary? You can bet your money on it. Will it be worth it? Oh completely. Time and time again you must travel into your heart to find your true self and start to function in a way that is really connected and present with the world. If you can try that, there is not any cap on what you will become.

So what will it be today?
