The consumption of sugary and starchy foods is not the only thing that can cause the blood sugar to rise, but also stress.

While it's a fact that stress cannot directly cause cancer to come into being, certain behaviors associated with it are regarded as risk factors. Some examples of those are cigarette smoking and alcoholism. Failure to get a good night's sleep is an example, too. Another one is stress eating that can lead to obesity, a common risk factor for cancer.

The good news is dealing with chronic stress can be done in a variety of ways. Some good examples include having a massage, listening to music, working out, taking care of a pet, writing in a journal and reading a book. Meditation is regarded by many as a very effective solution. This stress relieving activity is actually an integral part of Buddhism, which is a form of religion that's also considered as a way of life.
