The art industry can be pretty cutthroat and unforgiving. An artist springs from a relatively rare breed. You can survey a particular area and get the number of artists per square kilometer and chances are there would be a very low population density reading. That said, you couldnt form a community with just one or two virtuosos in town, could you.

This is, in a sense, the nub with artists residencies. These places are the happy hunting grounds for creative free spirits, which are often surrounded by exquisite surroundings that immediately shake off the formidable block. Creative spirits tend to converge around these areas, and as a result, they form a community. There is a so called City of Painters, Collioure, which can be found in France. Evidently enough, there are other such examples, and they are too long to enumerate.

It goes without saying, though, that these physical communities are not feasible nowadays. Practical and economic concerns tend to get in the way. And even in places where a considerable number of artist reside, they are still admixed with the uncreative and unimaginative populace. Anyway, in the modern world, artists are in a Diaspora that places them miles away from each other.

This is not a problem, though, since thoughtful and forward thinking individuals have created a virtual hub in the World Wide Web where an artist can hobnob with his fellows, as of old. These art communities can purport different objectives and purposes. Some of them, even, were not created and targeted for the creative populace in particular, but have been nonetheless used as such.

They are the point of convergence for creative denizens who are looking for virtual and technical inspiration, in the form of posted artworks and tutorials. If you are an across the board artist who enjoys all genres and media like painting, photography, sculpture, illustration, interior design, website design, you can find technically anything you can think of. These nifty platforms also proffer feedback to the creator through some online forum discussions and allow communication through chat tools and message boards.

For the enterprising and business minded artist, these are nifty platforms in which you can promote your works. You may receive commissions and get appraisals. You can also tap on other businesses that will turn your creations into promo items, such as prints, greeting cards, mugs, t shirts, and some such. They also proffer various art resources and pitch regular art contests. These online communities are also such a leeway that can provide you patronage and funding, whenever you need them.

There are drawbacks in this nearly perfect development, though. For one, the sheer number of members can make it hard to winnow the true blue talents from the merely pompous ones. Because of the accordingly large amount of content, you can sometimes be hard put to find a layout you really like. And of course, scammers galore proliferate in the World Wide Web.

The nub of the matter, though, is that these communities allow these quintessential artists to make names for themselves in an industry which is often hard on people who have no leverage. Its a given that not all are meant to be successful and remembered. They just do what they do for pure love and enjoyment. Art communities enable them to reinforce this feeling.
