Dress Like The Stars With High End Pre Owned Clothing

By Joyce Butler

Do you have a Big Box Store budget but designer tastes? Selling high end pre owned clothing is big business today. People sell their own things on Amazon and EBay. Millions donate even designer clothes to charity outlets. Thrift shops are operated in every town. Online consignment shops are thriving.

The thrill of the hunt is part of the pleasure if you're going to a thrift shop; you never know what you'll find. You want summer sandals and you just might find a pair of Bass brown leather ones, or Rockports in beige leather with tiny heels. However, you might end up with the perfect Fendi boots for next winter at a price you can't pass up, or Lucky Brand pumps for your granddaughter.

If shopping online, it's fun to be able to pinpoint a need and go right to where it can be met. Amazon and EBay have previously-owned garments, with pictures, details, and guarantees that the item will be as described. There are online consignment shops galore. All you have to do is find ones you like and go virtual shopping whenever you have a little spare time.

One of the great advantages of visiting local consignment or charity shops is that you can find better quality clothing than you might see in neighborhood stores. If you have Eddie Bauer tastes and only Faded Glory outlets, visit the thrift shops. People seem to donate a lot of Talbot, Land's End, Ralph Lauren, and other great leisure clothes that feel so good, fit so nicely, and wear so well.

One of the major extravagances in a woman's life is a wedding dress. People routinely spend hundreds, and for designer brands or custom designed gowns the tab can be like a down payment on a home. However, there are shops and online sites that specialize in consigned dresses. These gowns are worn once, cleaned, and guaranteed to be flawless. They might have been worn in Hollywood or Washington, DC, by someone whose name - or her father's name - is familiar.

Maybe you love fashion magazines and exclusive catalogs but never order something from them for full price. If you then find it at a not-new shop or on an auction site, it's a real thrill. Perhaps it's a pair of Jimmy Choos or a Talbot cashmere sweater in your favorite shade. Maybe it's those jeans you have been craving, or a workout suit that makes you feel svelte already.

Fine garments are works of art. It's a shame to let them hang unappreciated in someone's closet, scorned as 'last year's stuff'. It's best when they offer another round of pleasure, while raising money for a good cause or keeping another small business going and growing. This is really people helping people and well worth doing.

Guilt-free shopping is the name of the game. Get the clothes you want - and deserve - and feel both delighted and frugal. Great clothes and great bargains will make you happy!
