Common Spiritual Truths Shared By All Religions

By Brenda Fox

Religion is considered a common phenomenon for humanity. There are only minor differences that seek to distinguish different religious groups. However, there are spiritual truths shared by all religions around the world. It is from these principles we can deduce that the element of God is universal, only that different communities perceive it differently.

God created people and everything that can be found in the world. All religious communities point at a supreme being that created them. The differences can be found in how they were created and where the creation happened. It is also common to notice that communities were given the resources surrounding them. They include animals, land, oceans and other natural features. It is from these features that they get their livelihood.

It is a command from God that people must love one another. In fact, the assertion is that they were created to care for each other and the environment. From this love and care, most communities draw the lesson on morality. From this principle, you should not hurt others, kill or perform acts that would be regarded as detrimental to humanity. Preserve the lives and property of other people.

Humanity around the world is required to abandon evil. All religions point at negative things in the world that should not be condoned. They include taking away property that belongs to other people, killing, lies, negative thoughts and damage of property, among other evil acts. There is punishment for people who are evil. In fact, according to most religious believes, this evil only returns to hurt you and not the person it has been meted on.

The life of hope is a call for all religious communities. Life is full of struggles that could cause people to lose hope. There is no room for losing hope. There are numerous support elements in religious communities that will help you maintain hope. They include prayer and communion with fellow faithful. Hopelessness is even punishable in some religions. It shows that you do not believe in God as your shield and provider.

It is normal and expected to face struggles in life but you have a responsibility to overcome. The earth was not meant to be a place of peace and tranquility. This is why the daily struggle should be to overcome the pain. Those who overcome have a reward waiting for them in heaven or after-life. In fact, struggling is meant to polish you for the life after.

There is a heaven after earth. It might not be regarded as Heaven but there is a place where good people go after conquering the difficulties of this earth. In reverse, there is hell prepared for the evil people. This is why everyone is invited to be good and aim to get to the place of reward. Hell is a place for punishing evil doers.

The differences between religious principles are very subtle. For instance, God is referred by different names but His attributes are similar. Family is given a priority in all religious circles. However, the composition of this family will differ from on religion to the other. The deduction one makes is that the source, purpose and destiny of humanity is one.
