Growing In Faith Through Other People

By Catherine Wagner

Any person can go through different phases feeling utterly meaningless and dejected. This can be a common experience for anyone, but it can be excessively difficult to shake off these feelings and thoughts by merely keeping yourself distracted. Growing in faith is a common solution that others often suggest to shake off these haunting feelings.

This advice is certainly easier to say than do. Others find it harder and some find it easier. In this context, faith does not necessarily have to mean belief in any particular religion. Even people that do not pray know what it is like to lose faith. In instances like this, faith can simply suggest optimism and enthusiasm for life.

Living life feeling insignificant might be because you have lost your purpose or are still on the verge of finding it. Without purpose, it could be challenging to justify moving on. Purpose is critical because it gives us the courage to face trials and tribulations. An inspiration may be a friend, partner, family member, or a personal goal. Basically, finding meaning is the best approach to regaining faith.

Some people discover their purpose as toddlers in the form of an ambition. Most of the time, this ambition can take a different form as the person grows. Someone who initially wanted to become an actor as a child may eventually change her mind and decide that she actually wants to be a doctor. Those who are lucky stick to a single ambition for the rest of their lives, but what about those who have not figured out their dreams yet?

Accomplished young adults may cause their peers who have not set career goals yet feel inferior. The fact is, we all walk through life in distinct paces. Social constructs may indicate that at a specific age, you should already have a degree, a career, a house, a partner, or a family.

These questions can only trouble an already lost and confused soul. To get to the bottom of things, first set aside all expectations of you. Then you ask the important questions. Reflect and ask yourself what your goal would rather be if only you were not impeded by financial constraints, families, partners, or anything at all. Ask yourself what you should be pursuing if it was all up to you.

Move out your comfort zone. Try new things, taste new food, and meet more people. This way, you will find things about yourself you had not uncovered before. Maybe you were excellent at archery, painting, or photography and you were only unaware because you have not taken the time to try them out. You could even try out a new sport.

Get to know veterans in their field and ask them how they feel about the choices that have led them to where they are now. Learn from the experiences of others and determine what lessons you can apply to yourself. The most helpful thing in realizing your goals is to rid yourself of any unnecessary pressure from society and understand that it is a different journey for everyone. A spectacular way to regain your excitement is to talk to people and learn from them. You would be surprised of the stories they have to tell.

Most importantly, treat people around you with genuine kindness. If you are unable to help yourself, then you maybe you can do something for others. By sharing positivity, the passion should naturally emerge from your heart.
