There are practices that you can do which is viewed as insolent for them, including a portion of these practices may lead into being kicked out from the place.

You are there to have fun and enjoy, to get to know the Native American more, and to experience new things from them. You do not want that to be ruined just because you have done something which you did not know will bring the law for them. To ensure that your behavior is appropriate and you know that you are following the rules, here are tips to keep in mind.

Dress accordingly. Wearing of short skirts and shorts, swimsuits, halter tops, and hats are prohibited. T shirts are your safe choice but just make sure that there are no inappropriate and profanity slogans. If you have plans to participate in their public dances, know that some tribes will require wearing of shawl or any kind of shoulder covers for women.

Pay attention and listen to the person speaking in front. Read the agenda so you will understand the protocols. Traditional or not, this festivity is a way for these community to come together as one. This place is where people could freely express themselves as an Indigenous people. Paying attention and listening to the emcee is important as the emcee will be the one who would tell you what and what not to do.

Remain amid the terrific passageway. To indicate regard, which is normal, stand when the artists begin to enter the field. You are only exempted if there is a reason behind why you are unable to stand. Try not to seat on those chairs that are close to the moving circle because those are held only for artists, vocalists, and drummers.

Think about their ground as a hallowed spot. Favors are performed ahead of time, while your activities must demonstrate your respect to their sacrosanct and religious function. Try not to bring any alcohols, medications, and guns. Tobacco is exempted from this as they are utilizing this for favors or blessings.

When taking photographs, use your common sense and follow protocol. During prayers, do not take photos. Certain dances and flag songs prohibits taking photos. If you want to take a photo of a dancer, you need to ask permission from them first. Same goes when dancers are being initiated and are receiving feather or plume as this could disrupt the process.

Take a look at all the vendors and craftspeople. Generally speaking, these are not some ceremonial practices. These are simply celebratory and cultural gathering. This social gathering is all about singing, dancing, drumming, and most of all, seeing the community and the people on it in a great way.
