Hello darling. You look beautiful tonight.
Thank you handsome. You're always such a gentlemen.
Hmmmm?
What if you could have this type of relationship with your emotions?
It's actually possible.
Of course you're going to have fights from time to time...but it's possible to have a very healthy relationship with your emotions.
I'm not going to talk to you today about all of these happy fluttery emotions in your life. Nope.
I'm going straight to the heart. The place where you feel those bad emotions rumbling. The pit inside each of us that is blacker than black and we hate going there because it's terrifying to feel some of the emotions that live in this place.
Anger. Suffering. Depression. Anxiety. Jealousy.
And lots of pain.
All of those are in each of us whether we would like to admit it or not. The only difference between us is how these emotions are brought out. For some it could be heartbreak. For others it could be losing a job or getting into a fight with someone.
But none of us are free from these emotions.
That's what I want to talk about today...
Carl Jung, the famous psychologist once said, "The brighter the light the darker the shadow."
Following that logic, the more you tap into the "light" side of you the more access you also have to the darkness. Because as you stretch one way, you stretch the other way as well. That fact, right there, scares the hell out of most people.
But when we commit to going out in the world and actually living, to chasing our dreams and to being the best person we can truly be, we can allow our darkness and our light to coexist together without anything being wrong with it.
So here's the skill to develop...
Use every single shade of life to create something beautiful with the experience of living.
In our dark times, we must use those colors to express our more dangerous emotions that scare us. We have to put those paints on the canvas.
Create as much as you can with these times.
Express everything inside of you. Express the brilliant chaos in your soul.
Never stuff things down inside to avoid what's truly going on with your life.
Create something beautiful on the canvas of your life. Create your best self using the "worst."
Make something beautiful with the dark and the light.
Thank you handsome. You're always such a gentlemen.
