Before visiting a house of worship, it is often good to know the beliefs of that particular denomination. When it comes to the SDA Church Arcata, the beliefs are that of the Seventh-day Adventists. In all cases, those involved with this church accepts the Bible as the only source of truth.

As such, those in tune with God will spend an eternity building an ever-deepening relationship with the Divine, or in this case, the Holy Trinity, God The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Seventh Day Adventists also believe that while sin may create distance between an individual and God, God has the power to forgive through prayer and repentance.
While some denominations consider the Bible, the only word of God, others use additional texts. While this is the case, the SDA recognizes that there were many different authors, insights and perspectives of the writers whom transcribed the different books of the Bible. At the same time, the message behind the pages is seen as a message of inspiration, insight and salvation for all people, past, present and future.
When it comes to Jesus, the church believes that God, the Father sent Jesus, the son to reach out and spread the message of God, and love to all people, past and present. As such, like many other Christians, Seventh Day Adventists believe that Jesus became human, lived as one of mortal man, then died so that believers could live an eternal life. The church also believes in the second coming, a time when Jesus will come to take God's children home.
Whereas, it is believed that until that time, believers are never alone. For, the Holy Spirit is present in the heart of all whom believe. As such, the presence can comfort, guide and inspire people as was the case with the early prophets. In the process, the Spirit represents the "Body of Christ, " and provides a number of spiritual gifts such as compassion, service, and a humble attitude.
