Three Simple Methods For Cleaning A Faux Fur Bedspread

By Douglas Patterson

Fake fur can be referred as well to the term faux fur. This is a material type which is often being used for an upholstery, clothing, and some other household projects. There are three different methods which can be used for the cleaning process which include machine washing, dry cleaning, and hand washing. But be sure to have chosen one method which is appropriate for use in a particular type.

Most manufacturers are putting tags which are being considered to provide the users important instructions and specifics. These are highly necessary for the avoidance of damages to an item. The following are the 3 main methods for proper cleaning a faux fur bedspread while managing it very well.

Machine washing. Make sure to check the tag first so that you will know how it is to be cleaned. Though it is only up to you whether you will follow it or not, but for sure, the provided instructions can help in making it last longer. Tags would include some important reminders like separating it from colored items.

Before placing an item inside the machine, be sure to check the proper settings. When the fur is only a part of a garment, it must be turned inside out for reducing the possibilities of being worn out. Place the material gently in a machine. And make sure the setting is in a delicate cycle with cold water. The laundry detergent should only be mild and as well the fabric softener, similar to hand washing.

If the wash cycle is already done, remove the item directly. For it to fluff up and for excess water to be removed, shake it well. To roll the fur to a thick towel is another way which can also be helpful for removing faster the excess water. And once done, pull it carefully for you return the original dimensions back having no damages.

Hand washing. Be sure to acquire all the necessary and appropriate tools and materials needed for this process. Make use of a lukewarm or cold water. Through this, the faux fur can maintain both its texture and shape. Use only a mild type laundry soap for hand washing.

The method of spot cleaning is considered as the best suggestion as alternative rather than washing with water the whole garment. Through this, the garment can last longer while maintaining original texture. Gently rub the laundry soap by the use of fingers. Rubbing too rough must be avoided to prevent damages. Rinse using cold water.

Drying. Air drying must rather be done instead of using the electric dryer. Even if this is being set to no heat, the friction may still cause an item on tumbling around the dryer, thus creating heat and destroying the fibers. The area for drying must be very well ventilated such as outside the house or using an electric fan. Hang the garment properly with a hanger and properly remove all the excess water.

Dry cleaning. This is one safe option to be preferred. The dry cleaners have their appropriate and necessary supplies. They are also more knowledgeable about this fabric. And thus, an effective cleaning can be achieved. Reputable cleaners must be considered very importantly for handling the material properly with care.
