The Origin And Procedures Of The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC

By Jennifer Baker

The right to worship is one of the universally accepted rights. Many of the denominations currently in the world originally split form the Catholic faith and then subsequently from the Anglican or orthodox faiths. The Episcopal Church Cornelius NC has its roots in the Anglican faith. In the United States, about one million eight hundred and fifty people are members.

This body set up in America in the early sixteen hundreds, bringing with it Anglican and catholic doctrines. They used the Book of Common Prayer to determine their way of life and for their services. In the seventeen hundreds, this organization split forms their mother faith. They incorporated the Book of Common Prayer but altered it a bit to suit the American ways. Also in this century is when they first spread to North Carolina.

It revolves around some specific things. They focus on the life of Jesus Christ and his resurrection, as well as the existence of the father, son and Holy Spirit. They have also adopted the Anglican way of tradition, wisdom and scripture. They teach the commandment of love as the greatest commandment, along with the holy baptism and the holy Eucharist being the most important sacraments.

This religious institution is governed by canon laws. The entire population is at the lowest level divided in to parishes, run by rectors. The rectors are elected by a council serving the bishop which also elects the other priests and deacons to serve with the rector.

This institution has made a number of decisions that have been controversial for the congregation over the years. They have allowed women as priest, bishops and currently even have one female archbishop. This all started in the nineteen seventies. It initially brought about problems, with those who thought it was theologically incorrect to have women ordained. Currently all the dioceses in America have at least woman ordained.

They have also accepted same sex relationships with some of the faiths blessing the unions. They confirmed this by ordaining Ellen Barret, the first openly gay priest. They have a gay and non-celibate bishop Gene Robinson, ordained in two thousand and three. His ordination brought commotion in the religious institution, with a number of the members and even six dioceses leaving the doctrine. Their current stand on abortion is that women have a right to terminate the pregnancy. They do not however agree with abortion as a birth control measure. This is not accepted by the whole congregation.

The general doctrine has programs established with the aim of helping . They have one that gives scholarships to seminary students. They also have international relief agencies that help in disaster struck areas around the world. They have set up trusts that give scholarships to youth connected to the doctrine.

In this institution, this faith is available to that seeking this religion. They are situated on Davidson Street and have a Sunday service between ten and eleven thirty in the morning. The rector at the organization is Reverend KyleWallace. They also use social media, with a Facebook page and blog on which you can get religious updates.
