The Different Catholic Views Explained

By Brenda Warner

Catholicism is a mainstream Christian faith. It has followers in different parts of the world. Being a believer comes with the responsibility of sticking to particular moral matters. There are different catholic views. Most of them have a strong basis on the Holy Scriptures. Some are the products of human consensus that were arrived at important church meetings. The conference of senior clergy that is held on an annual basis is a time when major church decisions are arrived at. Catholicism shares core beliefs with other Christian churches. This is because the different churches have the same foundation. Devout followers abide to stipulated regulations.

The Bible's supremacy is not a subject of debate in Catholicism circles. It is the foundation upon which other Catholic principles are built upon. The sacred texts are the major points of reference. They shed light on what is right and help people to understand forbidden acts and the costs of disobedience. Through real life examples that are explained one can see where the path of fault leads to. The Bible is not only inspired but it is also error free.

The moral compass of the catholic believer is the Ten Commandments. Abiding to these laws leads to a fruitful life that is in compliance with what The Creator wants and is in accordance with the basic laws of governments. These commandments have addressed many issues of day to day living and morality. People are required to love their Creator with all their hearts and also love their neighbors as they love themselves. Someone who loves his neighbor will not think of doing something bad to him.

Catholicism is firmly rooted in the Holy Trinity. All prayers always make a mention of this holy order. The Supreme Being is one in three. This fact is supposed to be appreciated and understood by every believer.

Sin and sinfulness is the reason why Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden. Every human that is born of a woman is born with original sin that has been inherited from the first generation of humans. This can only be removed by the act of baptism. In Catholicism, one is baptized by water being poured on one's head. When this act is being performed, the person being baptized has to totally renounce sin in the presence of a priest.

Remission of sins is done by grace. Therefore, a person does not have to do anything to be saved but merely belief. Most of the doctrines of Catholicism are built on the concept of belief. It is hard to explain most matters of the church. Things like miracles are simply unexplainable. Therefore, strong faith is required.

Sex has always been a hotly debated issue in Catholicism circles. The very definition of sexual sin has been a point of contention. But the church has always had a strong, conservative position when it comes to sexual matters.

All churches are associated with certain doctrines. In most cases, doctrines are grounded in the Bible. There is the concept of eternal rewards and punishment. Disobedience leads to hell and obedience to paradise.
